After years of speculation it has FINALLY happened! Whole Foods announced today that it will be leasing a spot in Colonie Center mall. Now if we can only get a Wegmans in the area I’ll be a happy man!

My name is Jeff and I LOVE to eat.
I’m a 30 something father of one (soon to be two) who lives in one of the quiet suburbs of Albany. I’m not originally from the area… I came out here for college about 15 years ago and never left.
When I got here I would always hear people say that Albany doesn’t have any good restaurants and for a long time I believed it. I would go out to eat at national chain restaurants like Fridays and Chili’s by default because had no idea what hidden gems lie right beneath my nose!
A few years ago I opened up my eyes and started noticing a lot of the fantastic restaurants and eateries right there in front of me. Since then I’ve made it my mission to seek out and find some of the best local eateries that the area provides… and the more hidden the better!
When it comes to food I’m far from an expert. I prefer a good hamburger to filet mignon, I’m not much for Chinese or seafood and I’d rather find a hole in the wall on a lousy side of town than sit in some fancy bistro any day. If you’re looking for reviews I’d suggest you check out Steve Barnes or Celina Ottaway because they’re really good at what they do but that’s not what I intend for this site.
What I would like to bring you with AlbanyFood.com is provide a more in depth look at some of the amazing locally owned restaurants in the Capital Region. It’s not that I have anything against some of the national chains – heck, I’m borderline obsessed with Chipotle – but when things are local, they’re just plain better.
Please feel free to leave your thoughts as well in the comments section of each post… I’d be happy to hear from you!
If you would like to contact me directly you can do so by using the contact form or by emailing me at jeff [at] albanyfood [dot] com, or hit me up on twitter @albanyfood.
Looking forward to sharing what I find with you all and hope you enjoy reading it!
